 Welcome to the Insight Meditation Institute

The Insight Meditation Institute provides teacher training courses for Mindfulness and Compassion teachers and a pathway for the development of Insight Dharma teachers.

Two Training Courses:
  • Mindfulness and Compassion Teacher Training Program, and the
  • Insight Dharma Teacher Pathway
 
Mindfulness and Compassion Teacher Training Program
This two year program is designed to support participants to deepen their own meditation practice as well as to develop the knowledge and skills to teach Mindfulness and Compassion in various settings. This Mindfulness and Compassion program is based on the deep wisdom and the teachings of the Buddha.

​This program is particularly suited for those who are interested in incorporating and teaching mindfulness and compassion in various areas of work and life. In such areas as; allied health, yoga, fitness, group work, social work, conflict resolution, social activism, counselling and corporate work.
​
On successful completion of the program a diploma will be awarded to those who have ​​demonstrated the required knowledge, skill and understanding. This program is also a foundational program for those who want to enter the path of becoming an Insight Meditation Dharma teacher.

Insight Dharma Teacher Pathway
​This program aims to develop teachers in the Insight Meditation tradition and support aspiring teachers in deepening their practice and journey of awakening. 
The four-to-six-year teacher development incorporates; systematic study of Buddhist texts, extensive training in meditation practices and techniques, how to work effectively with individuals and groups, ethical guidelines for teachers and understanding the teaching role. It includes; being mentored by a senior Insight dharma teacher, assisting on retreats, giving talks, instructions, leading days of mindfulness and supporting sanghas as preparation for assuming full Insight meditation Dharma teacher status.
